I got accepted into a four-year college!! I found out yesterday through an email and was so excited. I should be getting an official acceptance letter soon. I was slightly nervous just because I really haven’t thought about where else I would go if it didn’t work out. Fall of 2021, I plan to attend Judson University in Elgin, Illinois. But before I attend, I’m going to their campus the nineteenth to check things out. I’m hoping to get a good feel for it all and meet a professor from the media writing field so I can see if that’s for me. It’s been such a bummer not going with my original major. I am already working towards a science associate’s at my community college so I am praying things will work out!

As far as books go, I am currently reading Live Not By Lies by Rod Dreher and it’s pretty good! It about how the US is moving towards totalitarianism but it isn’t the scary, hard totalitarianism that we saw with the USSR and other parts of Europe. This time it’s soft and gentle which makes it even more dangerous. He talks about how as Christians, we must recognize this so that we can come against it. If we don’t, we will pay dearly with our religious freedoms. Dreher proves this with testimonies of people who escaped the iron curtain and research he has done.

So far, it’s been a fascinating read! I actually heard him speak on Alisa Childer’s podcast prior to reading his book and it was incredible. He does a great job explaining his views and sharing what he’s learned. I would absolutely recommend listening to it!

The other book I’m working through is the Bible. I am still on track with it and am near the end of Deuteronomy. It’s been hard at times, not gonna lie! I can forget when life gets busy but I just recently caught up and I’m working to keep up with it. I knew that reading the whole Bible in a year was ambitious but I thought this year I was ready to do it. I feel like this is something you gotta commit to, not just agree to do it passively. Otherwise, it’s easy to get overwhelmed fast with how big the project is. I’m learning the key is to take it one day at a time and skip the beginning devotion in the Bible app if you have to!!

Next Thurday, I’ll fill you guys in on the campus visit with pictures!
