This semester, I have been taking an art class at my community college. Originally, I thought this would be a relaxing and interesting class that would teach me all about how to make 3D art and sculpt. However, that has not been the case.
My art class has been an enormous burden on me because in a 3 hour class, there is a lot of time for discussion. This has lead to many talks on politics and theology, all where I have found myself having the wrong opinion.
This week, my teacher (I am going to name her Emma) was asking what we all planned to do this summer and she ended up saying how she will be going on vacation with her family and they’ll all be vaccinated. She thinks they will be able to forget the pandemic once that happens. Emma laughed and said: “Who knows, in a year from now, we’ll be able to look back at this whole pandemic.” I proceeded to explain that I don’t think that’s true. When people are given large amounts of power, they don’t tend to give it back. Instead, they have us submit more. Complying doesn’t lead to freedom, it leads to more complying. We have been told that if we submit, we’ll get back to normal “soon” but I’m not quite sure that will be the case.
Emma’s face went dark. She had this look that spoke for her: “Crap.” Instead she responded with “I sure hope that’s not true.” Me too. However, anyone can be corrupted, whether they are good or bad. I don’t think this vaccine means we’re at the end point of this pandemic, I’m afraid it only means more compliance from us and more power for our leaders.
End note: Hey guys! Thanks for checking out today’s post, sorry for posting this yesterday! There was some technical difficulties and I accidentally set this for yesterday, not today!
