Welcome back to my blog! I hope you already read part one of this article and if not go back to check it out!
I struggled to know which authors are my favorite. Honestly, if I read more than one of an author’s books then I really like them. Other than that I read one book from an author all the time. I liked the book The Tales of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo but I haven’t read a book from her ever again (check out that book, though, it was amazing). I do that with so many writers, so it’s difficult to decide my favorites. Anyways, here’s the last five of my top ten favorite authors!
- Bill Waterson – Want to know what kick-started my love of reading? Comics. Waterson’s Calvin and Hobbes were comics I would read over and over again! I couldn’t get enough of them. My dad owned a lot of the collections and I would sit and read them for hours. I particularly enjoyed them right before bed, because I would go to bed smiling.
- Jeff Kinney – Diary of a Wimpy Kid never gets old for me. I’m a young adult now and I still laugh at the storylines. I loved them when I was younger because of the drawings and the autobiographical style, now I look at it as a reminiscence of being a preteen and it makes me laugh!
- Marissa Meyer – Her Lunar Chronicles was the bomb. I thought Cinder (book number one) was good but the series just continued to get better and I didn’t know that was possible! My favorite book from that series was Cress and I would totally read that series all over again!
- C. S. Lewis – Everyone has heard of one of his books. Maybe it’s The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe or Mere Christianity but most people have heard of this man. All I can say is that Lewis was a genius. He managed to make pretty much anything he wrote interesting and very profound. Even though the Chronicles of Narnia are really good, my favorites are Screwtape Letters and The Great Divorce.
- Ted Dekker – This is my grand finale favorite author. I easily own twenty of his books. My little library- it’s growing, just saying- has almost an entire row dedicated to his books and I have loved just about every one. If I had to pick a couple favorites, though, they’d have to be Eyes Wide Open and Boneman’s Daughters. Whichever book you choose to get by Dekker you won’t be disappointed.
All in all, I like a lot of authors and a lot of novels. There’s probably more I’m forgetting! These are the ones I remember the most and that have stuck with me for a while. Tell me in the comments your favorites, I’ll have to give them a try!
