BIG GOAL FOR 2021

So, you know how practically everyone has a New Year’s resolution at the beginning of the year to better themselves physically and/or mentally. It’s one of those things that tons of people talk about when December 31st rolls around. Ironically, I rarely have resolutions because they can feel super corny and we all know that they won’t be carried out when January ends. Because of this, I had decided to have a big goal and then a plan B goal. My thought is that even if I only accomplish plan B it will remain a large achievement. What is my 2021 New Year’s Resolution? Well, I plan to attempt reading the entire Bible for 2021! My plan B is to at least read the entire Old Testiment. I haven’t done either but I know lots of Christians have done it and grow big time from it. However, I don’t want to do it because “everyone is doing it.” I want to do it because I want to. It’s going to be long at times but I think I’ll really grow in my knowledge of God and my ability to hear from Him. Because of this, I am excited to give it a go! I’m reading the Bible through the “Bible in One Year 2021 With Nick Gumbel” plan on the YouVersion Bible app. So far, I have really liked it because there’s some commentary and it goes through the New Testiment and Old Testiment side by side (so now my Old Testiment plan won’t work so well). You can listen to it on audio with a British guy talking which I think is SUPER relaxing and it isn’t monotone (I care about that). So far, it’s been really cool and I would highly recommend anyone interested to give it a go! Worst case scenario is you don’t like it and want to try something else.

The other, totally unrelated to books, resolution I have is to go a month without extra sugar. I LOVE my desserts and sugary drinks, it’s a serious problem and it’s only worsened since the lock-down. So, I am hoping to chill out my sugar intake and somewhat reset my body but we’ll see!

Want to take part in these resolutions too? What are yours for 2021? Tell me about it in the comments (it’ll encourage me to carry on)!

You can do this. One of my goals this year is to memorize I John 7 -19. I have never before memorized that large a piece. I’ve got the first 2 verses done so far.

That is awesome!! I have no doubt you’ll be able to accomplish that this year. 😃

That’s awesome! A reading plan can make all the difference. I am currently doing Journey, which goes through the whole Bible in 18 months. I really like that because it provides links to a dramatized audio version of each day’s reading, and then I read along in the YouVersion Bible app. Also I really like that it provides videos to go along with it too, which adds some variety. But I might have to try out your reading plan sometime because of the British guy 😛
I have a couple resolutions, but the one that I really want to focus on is keeping a gratitude journal. Just writing down a couple things every day that I am thankful for. Hopefully that will help me keep a positive outlook. That’s great that you have a Plan B!

I LOVE the idea of a gratitude journal! It’ll keep you positive and looking on the bright side! I may just do that myself.
