Hello everyone! I hope you guys enjoyed Nicolette’s review on the first book of this series. If you haven’t read it, I would totally suggest you check it out before reading this!

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer tells the story of Red Riding Hood in a whole new light. Meyer takes the idea of the girl in the red hood to the next level in the beautiful country of France. Scarlet has lost her grandmere and persistent in trying to find her. The more Scarlet digs to find her, the more she learns that she didn’t really know her grandmere as much as she thought she did. Along with Wolf – a strong and mysterious young man-, Scarlet sets off to search for her stolen loved one and hopes to uncover the truth about her life.

Meyer’s second installment of “The Lunar Chronicles” was not my favorite, to say the least. The romantic relationship between Wolf and Scarlet is a good twist on the classic and Meyer did a good job making Wolf both man and beast simultaneously without doing the whole anthropomorphic thing. I get tired of that with the red riding hood plot line. He really is a man, not a wolf.

Scarlet was a bit dull at times. This book focused a bit heavier on romance and that isn’t my forte. I was there for the action, so this book didn’t hold my attention as much as the others did. I will say though that I was happy I continued on despite that because this book really added to the story arch in a way that made the whole series richer.

The second “Lunar Chronicles” book Scarlet holds true to the feel of Cinder and carries on the story well. However, as a whole this book was not my favorite compared to the other three. So, if you get bored, press on! This series only continues to get better.

If you like Sci-fi action romance, check out this series and let us know in the comments what you think of it!
